Happy New Year + Evelyn's Reverse Turtle Move + No More Barkdog + Commencing Sleep Training

Happy New Year

New Year's Eve was spent at home this year with all of our children +1, as Liana had a friend sleep over. We had cheese fondu for dinner (Caleb's favourite dish) with a spinach strawberry salad, lit a fire in the fireplace, watched a movie, and all went to bed early except for the teenage girls. New Year's day we had lunch at my parents' house along with my cousin's family.

After a few days of hemming and hawing over New Year's resolutions I opted not to make any. I was considering burdening myself with concrete goals such as running a race per month. Then I thought, instead of striving to accomplish new achievements I should pause and enjoy what I've already achieved. Here's to just relaxing and enjoying my beautiful life. Besides, I don't really want to run races in the winter time.

The photos below were taken with Liana's new camera on New Year's day.

Evelyn's Reverse Turtle Move

Behold: Evelyn's new kingdom carpet! Evelyn spends a lot of time playing on her rug but she often finds herself in a predicament. She can flip from her back to her tummy but not the other way around, which makes her mad. Darcy has coined this the reverse turtle.

No More Barkdog

Our Christmas present to Dexter was an Innotek anti-bark spray collar. It's just what he always wanted! Okay, it's what we always wanted...and probably our family, friends and neighbours, as well. When Dex barks the collar sprays a dab of citronella onto his chest. That's it. I can't believe it's working.

Commencing Sleep Training

After two months of wonky disrupted baby sleeping we hired Helen Sands, sleep consultant. She prepared a 17 page sleep plan for Evelyn and we're on day 2 of implementation. I can't share her methods but I will say that we're already seeing great results. The downside is I'm supposed to clear my schedule for the next 3 weeks - I'm holding off and hoping Evelyn will do so well that I won't have.

Will update on this in an ongoing manner for the next week or two.

Miscellaneous

Evelyn's favourite food is mashed banana. We had a lovely visit to Mountain Grove last weekend and have grandma and grandpa visiting here this weekend. The kids' Christmas vacation is over. It was nice to have extra time with them but unfortunate that it's been so cold out - was hoping to have gotten outdoors with them more often. Liana and I caught up on Angel and Caleb and I busted some moves with Just Dance.

Caleb turns his inflatable alien into a buddy
I'm a puzzle lover with kids who think puzzles are boring - was on cloud 9 when Caleb suggested we do one together

Caleb decorated the window sill. The robots were made as per instructions in his robot making kit.
