Kid Artwork + Hogs Back Falls + Code for Kids + Stair Climbing Champ

Kid Artwork

Liana was working three acrylic pieces. They're thematically darker than her usual works but it's made subtle by the fun colours, I think. Caleb of course wanted to paint along side her so I  gave him a spare canvas I had and he pulled out his paints that Debby had gotten him during our last visit to Mountain Grove. Caleb mentioned he'd like us to mount his painting to the wall as we've done for some of Liana's, so we found a spot upstairs for it.

From our main entrance you can see Liana's fairy painting to the left and the colours sync really well

Thought Caleb's piece would look nice near the one I did at the end of the hall

Hogs Back Falls

Evelyn and I have been spending our afternoons outdoors, afraid this nice weather will disappear. On Friday afternoon we went for a nice long walk with Becka, Roya and Ronin along the canal and Mooneys Bay beach. The rideau river crashing around Hogs Back Falls is quite a sight.

Code for Kids

Saturday morning Caleb took part in a Code for Kids workshop called Making a Game With Scratch. The company is new and hot - the workshop sold out just two hours after opening registration. It was awesome. It was hosted at Shopify Lounge, a venue boasting unicorn glass doors, jaw dropping art and a slide. Three long tables were occupied by 7-9 year old kids and their laptops. The kids were taught how to build a simple video game using a free program called Scratch, that uses drag and drop code. The guy presenting was quite good, though I still had to help Caleb a lot (he technically was too young to take part but they allowed him to as he'll be seven next month).

Tasty treat to end the morning with: red velvet cupcakes made by Chrissy

Stair Climbing Champ

Evelyn learned how to climb stairs. Now to teach her how to safely climb down stairs...

Miscellaneous

Caleb passed Red Cross Swim Level 3!

Evelyn was 1cm and 1.5lbs away from being too big for her bucket car seat. We've packed it away and are now using the Clek, safety checked this morning by the good people at SEATS.
